Album Review: Make Them Suffer - Old Souls

StarStarStar

"'Old Souls' functions best as the full package — a romper of a ride from the string sections all the way to the breakdowns."

More Make Them Suffer Make Them Suffer

Although the classical piano flourishes and guttural growls mightn’t mesh at first, by a quarter of the way through the album, Perth’s Make Them Suffer are in full, symphonic deathcore swing.

They seem intent on moving away from the deathcore formula though, with Gothenberg-style melodeath riffs dominating, helped along by stunning clean female vocals. Coming in just shy of 40 minutes, Old Souls functions best as the full package — a romper of a ride from the string sections all the way to the breakdowns. For deathcore fans looking for something with a bit more depth.
