Album Review: Luke Daniel Peacock - We've Come A Long Way, Darling

There's a lot to love about the debut solo record from Brisbane muso-about-town Luke Daniel Peacock (The Painted Ladies, Halfway).

It's one of those ones where your favourite track changes as each listen endears you further to instinctive lyricism, and a vocal with just enough grit that you feel a little crush. Written over a decade, this is a thoughtfully crafted folk/rock-with-a-bit-of-country record perhaps best summed up by the two most contrasting tracks: Born Into A Battle is surly, building with the tension of a summer storm into a rowdy, melodic climax, yet it softly retreats into the gentle, damn pretty folk of Trees. A strong, heart-tugging debut.
