"A gently-building cacophony that sucks you in before disappearing into the night."
Lowell has a deceivingly pure voice that spouts deceivingly progressive lyrics, packaging feminist messages into delightfully poppy parcels.
A sincerity permeates the record thanks to effectively chaotic synth beats, rich chamber reverb and vocals that sit a million miles above the mix. Managing to walk the pop tightrope like a seasoned veteran, she only occasionally tips towards the safety net of cliché (The Bells’ contrived demands to “Bring the beat back”). Album closer, Time I Lower Me Down is a perfect summation, a gently-building cacophony that sucks you in before disappearing into the night.
