Album Review: Love Over Gold - Fall To Rise

Equipped with some poignant harmonies, an acoustic and electric guitar and well-structured storytelling, the ladies slide effortlessly through ten tunes without breaking a sweat

2.5 stars

The brainchild of American singer-songwriter Pieta Brown and Australia's own Lucie Thorne – can't be criticised for a foggy notion of genre, the two songstresses confidently narrating the tender and delicately indie debut, Fall To Rise. Equipped with some poignant harmonies, an acoustic and electric guitar and well-structured storytelling, the ladies slide effortlessly through ten tunes without breaking a sweat. However, the formula is so often replicated that the record can drag. Driftless Now brings a much-needed injection of pace, while Thorne's unmistakable Aussie voice is all too beautiful on the final two trackshttp://d3mfoxizwrqdu.cloudfront.net/Artists/L/love_over_gold/slicks/love_over_gold_fall_to_rise_0913.jpg
