While this is a good album, they hold themselves back from making it a great one.
Little Matador seems like two albums of differing classic rock philosophies, both fighting for dominance while being crammed together, kicking and screaming. There's the trudging but deliberate and relentless tempo of songs like Stitch Yourself Up, Reasons and The Night. On the other hand, we get Boom Boom, Liar Liar, Cheating Heart and The Crooked Wood. The latter is Little Matador cutting loose and indulging in their more hedonistic rock'n'roll side; it's also Little Matador at their best. While this is a good album, they hold themselves back from making it a great one.
