What I get from YACHT's cover of Brigitte Fontaine's 'Le Goudron', from 1969's Comme A La Radio, is that the apocalypse has gotten itself a pretty damn great soundtrack. Shit, I mean, yeah, it's going to be nothing less than completely fucked up when the Earth's population has been decimated, leaving smouldering corpses in its wake, but for all the (un?)lucky survivors, it's an opportunity to turn on all the strobe lights they want and convulse their disgusting bodies to some bloody crazy music.
It's the throbbing, repetitive synth line, the licks that inch toward insanity, it's Claire Evans's nonchalant vocals which fade in and out. All of these emulate Brigitte Fontaine's avant-garde attitude, while adding YACHT's penchant for penning hits for the dance floor. Listen to it below.
