Let Wafia's lesson in 'I'm Good' be one of determination and self-love, and that those two things will do more for your wellbeing than most of us realise.
Modern society's obsession with self-care culture is interesting to say the least. Obviously, everyone should, in all degrees, be taking care of themselves by staying healthy, maintaining loving relationships etc. But has the phrase 'self-care' lost its meaning? Have we turned something that's truly essential into something that's, frankly, little frivolous? And, is it anyone's place to judge?
Look, it's not anyone's place to judge. But if self-care - in any capacity - was put to song, that song is WAFIA's new single, 'I'm Good'; a song that describes post-heartbreak in such a delectable, sugary-sweet way but doesn't slack off on the hooks or the bass. A result of a collab with co-writer Wrabel and producer John Hill, the song sees Wafia gaze retrospectively at a past relationship, and realise how much better off she is now she's out of it. The assertive, rapid fire verses contrast beautifully with the soaring chorus, as the whimsical production dances around every word that Wafia sings.
'I'm Good' proves that sometimes struggle is worth it for the success that lays just out on the horizon. It's a song that details that all-too-familiar feeling of 20/20 hindsight, and that honesty with yourself is one of life's best self-care methods. Let Wafia's lesson in 'I'm Good' be one of determination, knowledge of self and the realisation that, more often than not, the combination of those two things will do more for your wellbeing than most of us realise.
