Tuxedo have a habit of making tunes you just can't help but get down to. Their infectious, feel good vocal harmonies and throwback-to-the-70's-disco-era production has seen their tracks feature on many-a dancefloor in recent times. I didn't think it was possible for a Tuxedo track to get anymore groovy, but that was before KAYTRANADA stepped up to remix 'The Right Time'.
Turning the funk levels right up, Kaytranada injects even more soul levels into the track with this remix. Your attention may be immediately grabbed by the live drumming that's going on here as well, thanks to BADBADNOTGOOD jumping on as well to feature in the new take.
Combining electronic and synthetic sounds with BADBADNOTGOOD's impeccable drumming is pulled off here in a way only Kaytranada is capable of. Starting off with just a vocal sample on loop before the drums kick in, the remix takes the track down just a little, choosing to let the drums and the now-warped vocal harmonies take centre-stage instead of the more clear and higher original.
It's Kaytranada's uncanny ability to throwback with his work, yet still utilising a very modern take that makes his work so intriguing and enjoyable. These three acts were always going to be a match made in heaven, and now we have the song to prove it.
