Mayor Hawthorne and Jake One have joined forces to become Tuxedo, Stones Throw Record's newest nu-disco outfit with their latest track, Number One.

MAYER HAWTHORNE and JAKE ONE - both accomplished artists in their own right; one is a STONES THROW artist with a slew of hits including a Kendrick Lamar collaboration, and one is a talented hip hop producer.

However, it's the music they make together as TUXEDO that is really interesting, throwing back to the 70's with their sleek disco vibes!

Latest track Number One is a sensual, smooth, synth-heavy track featuring vocal melodies designed to be played in any room with a disco ball. Apparently inspired by SNOOP DOGG's Ain't Not Fun, these two artists have been making this type of futuristic neo-soul before it was the latest trend - and it shows.

Following on from the even funkier Do It (which was actually sampled by PITBULL in 2013) this track is slightly slower than others in this genre, but no less infectious.

Synth melodies, funky basslines and male falsettos that I just can't get enough of, Number One doesn't take itself too seriously, which makes it even better. It's fun, playful, so catchy and will undoubtedly see some interesting shapes pulled on dance floors everywhere.

TUXEDO's debut album is set to be released March 3rd on STONES THROW RECORDS. Coming from the label alone, this will definitely be one of 2015's best releases, from two seriously talented artists!
