Live Review: LISTEN: Theophilus London x A$AP Rocky ‘Big Spender’.

Check out Theophilus London's new single Big $pender, featuring A$AP Rocky. Warning: You may feel compelled to spend up after listening.

SHIRLEY BASSEY opens this track and she continually loops throughout like a sweet apparition of a woman from another time serenading THEOPHILUS LONDON as he spits rhymes over the siren song. The track was recorded in Sydney, which is established within the first 25 seconds with the brand ‘Givenchy’ named not long after. This presents a ticklish contrast of what our city doesn’t represent, or at least the Sydney I seem to know. “I just bought a kangaroo and a leather jacket man” has to be the best line as London and Rocky seem to discover the true meaning of ‘straya.

The obnoxious yet exciting beat overcomes the top of your shoulders as the song progresses and you can’t help but be swayed by the big band aspect of the song muddled into the decadent hip hop lyrics like some sort of expensive elixir. Needless to say 'Big Spender' not only made me want to buy heaps of cool shit, but it also made me heaps proud to be Australian and most of all from the best city in the world, Sydney. Take that, Melbourne.

Check out the guys getting down in the 'Making Of' video.
