Grungy post-punk legends THE AFGHAN WHIGS, whose album Gentlemen is widely regarded as one of the best things to come out of the nineties (closely followed by light-up sneakers and Cheese TV), have reformed this year to play a run of shows including Splendour In The Grass.
A highlight of the tour so far has been the Whigs’ fantastic cover of R’N’B rising star FRANK OCEAN’S track “Lovecrimes”, and they’ve just released a studio recording to get us psyched for their Australian shows. It’s a slowed down, spiked up version that starts off as a soulful piano and guitar piece before building to a dark and vicious freak-out towards the end.
