With the unprecedented success of plenty of recent lo-fi electronic acts, of course it was only a matter of time before we started seeing more and more artists inspired by the front runners.
However, none have been quite so unique and intriguing as TAMPER; the combined results of an Irishman and an Aussie meeting in New York City and taking to lo-fi electronica in spectacular fashion.
Warped, bubbling synths paired with thumping bass kick things off immediately with Take It In, as soulful and rich vocals come in over the top. Not unlike the vocal stylings of ALT-J, the soothing lyrics combined with the seriously impressive production shows a more original take on the lo-fi sounds now regularly popping up from other artists.
The obvious chemistry of the two is on show here, with the contrast of dark electronica and breezy indie melodies successfully blending both genres into a completely new style, and so effortlessly done. The lyrics in the song are an extra bonus and hopefully indicative of what is still to come from TAMPER as a quaint love story unfolds.

Short and sweet, the track slowly moves along through heavy synths, basslines and drawling vocals until the end, where the pair harmonise against a new bed of significantly lighter synths.
Take It In is the first track of the duo's forthcoming EP out mid-year, and has us yearning for more. Remaining relatively unknown for now, if this is what we can expect from their EP, it is only a matter of time before TAMPER's anonymity is over!
