Live Review: LISTEN: Ta Ku 'Cutting With Textures' (Ode To Chet Faker)

If your weekend was anything like Ta Kus, it would have involved chopping up Chet Faker's most recent EP and creating an awesome set of new tracks.

If your weekend was anything like mine, it would have involved gin, bacon, and stalking Kendall Jenner on Instagram, (in no particular order). If your weekend was anything like TA-KU’s, it would have involved chopping up and editing CHET FAKER’s most recent EP and creating an awesome, beat-heavy set of new tracks.

So while you were out getting rowdy on dance floors across the nation, Perth producer TA-KU was busy coming up with this genius mini EP which he has cleverly titled ‘Cutting with Textures.’ Cutting and chopping CHET FAKER’s EP ‘Thinking in Textures’ to create the new tracks, TA KU refers to this as “an ode to the man himself.”

Using some awesome tracks off the EP, including both ‘I’m into you’ and ‘Love and Feeling’ TA-KU reworks this stuff in a way that is purely his own, yet manages not to trash the distinct vibe you get from CHET FAKER’s original work. That takes true skill.
