I'm not sure anyone is expecting the original to become the next dance hit. But that's why DAGGERS exist, to turn pop tracks into dance floor fillers.

SOPHIE LOWE is currently killing it as her latest single works it's way through the Triple J cycle, but I'm not sure anyone is expecting it to become the next dance hit. But that's why DAGGERS exist, to turn pop tracks into dance floor fillers.

Coming off the back of a cheeky little support from some guy named Flume (he dropped another one of their remixes in his BBC Radio1 Essential Mix, Sydney production duo, Daggers, take 'Understand' from a downtempo ballad to a bass heavy deep house banger.

On the surface it might seem that this kind of pairing doesn't make sense, but on the original, Lowe brings in many electronic elements that work slowly around her vocal top line, oozing synths creating a dark atmosphere. That's why this remix is pretty smart, Daggers have utilised these songwriting cues from Lowe and built their bass elements around her original parts.
