Brisbane Chicago house master Skin on Skin features on Steel City Dance Discs 9th volume, presenting four tracks of thumping 909 worship.

Newcastle label Steel City Dance Discs have proven themselves once again to be some of the finest purveyors of all things that go doof in the night with their latest release, featuring none other than Brisbane's SKIN ON SKIN. Presenting four side-by-side tracks of rip-roaring 909 worshipping Chicago House, Skin On Skin joins the ranks of Mall Grab and Nite Fleit as one of the finest artists to appear on the esteemed label.

Skin On Skin is all about the thumping magic of classic house with an undercurrent of lo-fi magic and punk fierceness. His debut EP mixed the lo-fi sound of Delroy Edwards or Gene Hunt with loops and hooks evoking more mainstream house. With his sophomore EP, Skin on Skin lets loose with his TR-909 drum machine and lets the house truly flow, with magical results.

The opener 'Multiply' sees a siren-like synth mix with the instantly recognisable 909 toms and kick for a true Chicago House. 'Walk Up To Yo House' mixes an acidic bassline with half-step hats and a chopped-n-screwed hip-hop sample. It's a more minimal track perfect for absolutely losing your mind to. 'Ma Shootaz Got Shootaz' keeps up the pace, seeing a scattered sample mix with an infectious bass hook and crisp hats. 'No Face, No Case' rounds out the EP, seeing Skin On Skin get a little more esoteric with his sampling, and glitchy percussion taking the place of four-to-the-floor madness.

Skin On Skin is bringing the magic of Chicago House to Australia, and we couldn't be more hyped to see him pairing up with Steel City Dance Discs. His EP stands as one of the labels most unique releases yet, and also shows he's reaching new levels with his craft. This country needs more banging 909 tunes, and I for one am stoked to see Skin on Skin bringing the goods.
