Future shining star in the Australian music scene Siala has today released her debut single in the form of 'Blackout'. The single begins her journey to becoming one of the most exciting and talented songwriters in the scene, moulding powerful storytelling with infectious stadium worthy instrumentals.
Initially, Siala found inspiration and solace in guitar-heavy legacy artists including The Smashing Pumpkins and PJ Harvey, before soon diving headfirst into R&B, jazz and hip-hop. It's from this diverse sonic underbelly that she found her voice, utilising songwriting as a way to process and digest pain and isolation. After watching a show performed by The Weeknd in Brisbane/Meanjin, she aspired to meet perform on those same stages.
"I started taking it more seriously when I was getting great feedback from mates," she states.
"Any time I thought about performing or sharing sounds, it would give me butterflies, I would vision it so clearly!"

'Blackout', produced by Meanjin based producer and rapper Nerve, sees Siala deliver hypnotic melodies and tough bars over a glitchy and head bob worthy beat. There's a ferocity, an urgency and a hunger written all over her delivery, an energy rarely seen so vividly this early in a career.
"Blackout was inspired by emotionally shutting off and rejecting feelings in a way that made you blindside how much you were hurting yourself or others but everyone can internalise this differently.
"Making the video was fun and high energy because the people surrounded created that. It’s like family no faults and if you do laugh, move on and grow together like a body of water, it’s dope!” says Siala.
Ahead of a larger body of work coming out in the next few months, we're calling it early, Siala is about to be one of the countries most powerful voices.
