Introducing himself to the music world earlier this year, producer SG LEWIS is back with his latest release ‘No Less’ getting us ripe and ready for his upcoming EP release later this year.
The track has a chilled vibe to it. The lyrics have a ballad feel with layered vocals by newbie Louis Mattrs, who just like SG Lewis is going places. They create the motivation for the track giving it a sultry feel. ‘No Less’ is very much a harmonious tale about a soulful love confession, and the sound created by SG Lewis compliments the lyrics perfectly to create this feel.
SG Lewis has a calculated approach to music making. It is clear he is meticulous in constructing his sound, but at no stage does ‘No Less’ make you feel like you are listening to the strictness of Mozart. Instead it has a hypnotic feel, which when combined with Mattrs' dreamy voice, causes involuntary head bopping in time with the beat. As odd as it may seem the sound is almost like the R’n’B of electronic music, and if this is going to become a genre SG Lewis is going to be the one to craft it.
Let’s hope these two do some more collabs, as their sound is reminiscent of the eargasms the Flume/Chet Faker combo has given us on more than one occasion. In the meantime SG’s upcoming EP, Shivers, is going to feature more collaborations and more treats for our ears.
