Live Review: Be welcomed to Scram's jungle rave with the relentless 'Underworld'

Western Sydney's Scram delivers punchy, chugging breaks on his jungle rave anthem and aptly titled new single, 'Underworld'.

There must be something in the water in Western Sydney, because these last 12 months have seen the region thriving in pretty much every genre of music. There's been a huge surge in creatives pooling together out West for music projects, art and even more so, creative collectives. One of these is GARJ, a collective promoting all forms of art whose goal is to bring together like-minded artists who share the same love for expression and creation.

One of these artists is Jake Morris AKA SCRAM. He's putting his taste where is mouse is and putting together a forward-thinking, yet nostalgic deep dive into rave-ready jungle. Taking heaps of influence from the golden era of 90's UK race, his second track 'Underworld' pools all of this together and throws it back at you as a relentless, 160BPM onslaught of chugging breaks and ethereal pads.

The percussion is expertly programmed, with little flourishes added in every few bars to keep you on your toes. The track is constantly shifting and evolving, the arrangement never once feeling repetitive.

It's aptly titled 'Underworld', the relentless energy captured within it feeding off the aura the British duo of the same name have captured throughout their colourful discography.

Though this may be Scram's second track, there's so much heat to this. You can feel that he's been tinkering away at production for a long time with 'Underworld' being the culmination of his skills improving with time. 'Underworld' marks a new era for Sydney's underground, and one that we're heaps stoked to see manifesting.
