The heat here is out of control – and I'm not even talking about summer temperatures. If you struggle to find new music and hate algorithms telling you, "If you like that, you'll love this," then this new mix put together by Sydney's SANDRO DALLARMI is perfect for you. On it, Dallarmi selects and recommends the best of Australian dance music in 2017, curating the ultimate playlist free from pesky marketing influence.

Dallarmi is no stranger to selecting the very best dance tunes, and Sydneysiders may be familiar with him from his own FBi Radio show, "Switch", on Friday nights, as well as playing a few parties around the place and doing the graveyard shifts at triple J recently. Here on this mix, he shows everyone why he's one of Sydney's most exciting DJs, sequencing the songs so they move from one dance subgenre to the other, which means you can ride smoothly through the whole thing or you can dip in and out as you like – either way, you're sure to find something that resonates.

Dallarmi dives right in with JIKUROUX's stuttering 'Themed Break', and from there he plunges on into UV BOI's synthy 'Set in Stone.' Cycling through some of the year's hottest tracks, from COSMO'S MIDNIGHT's 'History' to TOUCH SENSITIVE's 'Lay Down,' he refuses to stay in the one place for too long, but moves so smoothly you never notice the rug being pulled out from beneath your feet.

Go fast with RHYTHM HEAVEN's 'Third Heaven' or go (comparatively) slow with YOUNG FRANCO's 'About This Thing (feat. Scruffizer)'. Dallarmi pretty much knocks it out of the park, slipping seamlessly from ebullient EDM to lo-fi house to glitchy electronica and beyond. The set wraps up with KLLO's iconic single, 'Virtue', before slipping out through a pop anthem trap door – BASENJI's 'Mistakes (feat. Tkay Maidza).

You could have gone an entire year listening only to this mix and you might still have come away with a truer understanding of current Aussie dance music than someone who had just listened to the year's biggest albums. As streaming becomes more popular and it gets harder to navigate the huge number of new releases coming out every day, here at Purple Sneakers we're thankful for guys like Dallarmi – he brings excellence to whatever he touches, and this new mix is no exception.

Now back to the verbal head butting that is triple j's hottest 100.
