Live Review: LISTEN: Sam Smith 'Lay Me Down' (Todd Edwards Vocal Mix)

Todd Edwards has taken Sam Smith's soulful new single 'Lay Me Down' and has uplifted the mood of the track with his vocal mix.

One month ago, British talent SAM SMITH released his latest single 'Lay Me Down'. Since its release, the track was almost inevitably to be transformed into a remix. And now it has. But it's not just the instrumentation that has been reshaped, TODD EDWARDS has fragmented the structure of Smith's voice with his vocal mix.

With the original providing nothing but the intense soul of Smith's powerful vocals poured over very little instrumentation, Edwards' mix eases the mood a little. This is through the simplistic, consistent beat coupled with a breathy vocal sample, as well as basic instrument patterns swarming in and out throughout the six and a half minute track.

A mix very far away from the original, it's the antidote to wanting an uplifted version of the new single.
