Live Review: Sam Smith 'Lay Me Down' (POMO Remix)

Continuing his great run lately, POMO has delivered the goods by remixing Grammy winner Sam Smith's 'Lay Me Down' into an all out house jam!

Being a part of HW&W Recordings comes with it's own seal of approval, and artists affiliated with the label seem to have no trouble delivering to this expectation. This includes POMO, who has just delivered one of the best SAM SMITH remixes I've heard.

Where other artists have chosen to build upon what was already there, POMO has gone and done his own thing - as he does so well - and reworked Smith's Lay Me Down into a pumping house track!

Keeping with his signature sounds, POMO propels the track into the future with his glitchy synths and stuttered vocals. Starting off with minimalist house beats and synth chords, Smith's passionate vocals soar over the steadily growing production. Breaking back for a second, things really start to build with synth swirls and hands clap before really taking things up a few levels into full dance territory.

Following this, labelmate KAYTRANADA's influence can be heard, as he slows everything down and lets the groove take over. Amping up the bass and slowing it down, POMO keeps you guessing in the short and sweet remix.

This has been a big year for the producer, before he was remixing Grammy winners. Locked in for SXSWPOMO has been busy performing around the US with the likes of GIRAFFAGESPAZZKID and TRIPPY TURTLE as well as internationally with HUDSON MOHAWKE and RUSTIE. Add to this his stellar 8 track EP still going strong after it's late 2014 release, and it's safe to say this will be POMO's biggest yet!
