Confusers of the indie music scene; Brisbane band RE:ENACTMENT have been labelled as dance, punk, electro-pop, indie-rock, electronica… (I could keep going here). Call them what you like, there is no doubting the array of excellently crafted music on offer from their recently released first full-length album Sport.
Don’t get your skinny jeans in a knot, there’s really nothing athletic about these guys (unless you take into account their visceral and energetic live shows).
Having fine tuned their tunes with the likes of Burke Reid (Gerling, PVT, Seekae) and Magoo (Regurgitator, Custard, Not From There), Re:Enactment have managed to streamline their eclectic sound into a well oiled album. From the guttural freak-out of 'Fisherian Runaway' (featuring Jason Whalley of Frenzal Rhomb) to the smooth R&B-esque 'Too Much', this album has more than a few surprises to keep you on your toes. These guys also have a handful of film clips as varied in style as their music.
