Rhythm Section International have strung together a celebratory five year anniversary compilation called SHOUTS, featuring Prequel's 'I Tried To Tell Him'.
Melbourne producer PREQUEL was one of the first artists to release music on Bradley Zero's label Rhythm Section International. Delighting listeners with his jazz-infused take on house music, Prequel's Polite Strangers EP exists as the label's first release by an Australian artist, dating back to the tail-end of 2014. An EP that now shines brightly with its 30 or so peers, the Rhythm Section International catalogue hit its five-year mark only a few months ago, encouraging the label to release a celebratory compilation.
Titled SHOUTS, the 36-track body of work radiates the label's ethos in unearthing and nurturing talent, as well as through the eyes of the radio shows, club nights and gigs that Rhythm Section has become known for. Not only this, but it stands as a mirror to what the crew have achieved, and will continue to strive for over the next five years.
"SHOUTS is a nod to the online radio culture that birthed the movement. SHOUTS is the label using its voice to amplify its peers. SHOUTS is 5 years of Rhythm Section International."
Challenging the former confines on what club music is (and where appropriate to enjoy it), it is with many thanks to Rhythm Section International and their artists that we now digest a fusion of genres spanning jazz, soul, world, RnB and street (to name a small few) with those of more the hard-hitting variety.

Including tracks from Neue Grafik, Jad & The, Sleep D, Mallard and Session Victim, SHOUTS would not be complete without a taste of Prequel. Without further ado, his dinner and show, 'I Tried To Tell Him'.
Under softened orange hues, we take to our ornate, wooden seats at the dressed round tables; our neighbouring diners allowing us to collectively form the very same shape to frame the dazzling Boudoir Grand at centre stage.
Modestly, a set of hands dance up and down the instrument; digits twinkling with great succession as they tirelessly collaborate with the black and white stripes that lay underneath. Utterly riveted by the craft this coordinated tuxedo projects, elegance wafts and permeates the space, flirting with guests and spiking a romantic energy as warm as the bulbs above us.
As these lights dim further, two long legs draped in deep red silk grow taller, with the approaching entrance of this evening's leading lady. Strutting slowly with angled posture and unbothered expression before her lace-sleeved glove grips the silver encased microphone, sultry is matched with unequivocal charm; a recipe designed to enchant as we fixate territorial gaze on this very well put-together duo.
Prequel's 'I Tried To Tell Him' features Melbourne mates Tamil Rogeon on strings, alongside Horatio Luna manning that pungent bassline; and appears on South London label Rhythm Section International's compilation SHOUTS. You can stream and purchase the entirety of SHOUTS via the label's Bandcamp.
