Central Coast producer NINAJIRACHI has just dropped a two track EP that sees her shape her most experimental vision yet. ‘Water Gun/Stingray’ sees her point her intricate production style towards the dance floor, with this double release channeling the sounds of jersey and happy hardcore into punchy club tools. Out now on NLV Records, the release is a clear sign of growth from the young producer who has already grown so much as an artist since signing with the label last year, and is set to rise even further.
Together the tracks act as yin and yang in their composition, with a bait and switch of mood and melody making the two guaranteed to light up a crowd. Both featuring idiosyncratic sampling and buoyant percussion, they build into drops that knock you through a loop while keeping you totally hooked with the lush layering of sound.
'Water Gun' sets off bright and melodic, growing from a few bleeps and bloops into an arrangement of rising pads and sharp hats. The track collects more and more percussive pieces, building momentum before tumbling into the bouncing castle of a drop; rubbery, sweaty and just pure fun. Her now signature staccato sampling is put to brilliant use here, creating a tension by adding layers of rhythmic sounds before drops and adding some extra oomph on following breakdowns.

Track two 'Stingray' is just as fun as the first, this time getting Sydney producer pal Oh Boy in for a collab, lending his love of jersey rhythms and ear worm composition. The track sets the scene as a huge banger building off dissonant chords and tinny percussion rising into a more sparse, bass heavy breakdown. Switching things up with new percussive rhythms seemingly every second, the layers of found samples, squeaky synths and fat bass really makes for an all-encompassing track.
This double release was tailor made to light up dancefloors and festivals everywhere, set at the perfect BPM for jumping up and down, and inspiring movement with its zippy basslines and flighty melodies. 'Water Gun/Stingray' broaches exciting new territory in Australian club sounds, exploring the instrumental sensibilities of a producer who is just keeps getting bigger and better with every release. It's a super exciting time for Ninajirachi as she's just been announced on the forthcoming FOMO lineup, is set to tour alongside Hermitude and Haiku Hands, and will be lighting up the stage at Splendour In The Grass this weekend.
