UK producer Mezzo enlists the help of Morgan on their new single "Ain't Playing". At just 20 years old, Mezzo is right on the mark, meshing contemporary future beats with classic R&B percussion and cascading chimes. Morgan's soaring voice takes centre place, demanding your attention. Touching on past relationships and moving beyond mind games, you can feel the soul and straight up diva power in her voice.
From the revival of 80s house music to the 90s grunge aesthetic, we all seem to be obsessed with throwbacks. Perhaps it's got something do with the craziness of our modern world. I say this because maybe it's the reason behind the revival of the R&B sound which has experienced a bit of a renaissance since fading from it's early 2000s hay day. We are all nostalgic to a more simplistic time but I'm certainly not complaining. There's something about Morgan's seemingly familiar voice and reliability that takes you to a more peaceful place in the near distant past.
"Ain't Playing" is the second single taken from Mezzo's EP Purple. It's being released released through UK label Future Beats Records as a part of their 3 year birthday celebrations.
