Live Review: Jump in Lorenzo Senni's time warp with the release of his EP 'Persona'

Prepare yourselves for a flashback to the 90’s rave cave as Lorenzo Senni's push’s you back into the big wide world of trance with his debut EP ‘Persona’.

Prepare yourselves for a flashback to the 90’s rave cave as Lorenzo Senni's push’s you back into the big wide world of trance with his debut EP ‘Persona’ for Warp Records.

Senni’s latest effort is reigniting the once faded genre back into the light with an exceptional realm of lucid and complex sounds. The EP is said to give birth to the old school trance, before it became “watered down to progressive house for wider markets”, and you’ll never be happier to travel back to the time strobes reigned king.

‘Win In The Flat World’ is one of six tracks off the EP and is a wild ride of tricking samples and a slow building intergalactic soundscape. Picture a video game played after a redbull bender and even that doesn’t begin to describe the energy of the track. Senni has infused pauses in between dramatic unravels of electronica that perfectly compliments the intensity of the samples. He uses an array of sounds to create a whole other dimension of what we think the trance genre should consist of, he’s bringing back old school rave with a modern complexity and it never sounded so good. All hail Lorenzo Senni; the king of rejuvenation. Have a listen!
