London singer/songwriter JIMMY NAPES has been more of a behind the scenes guy, working with big names DISCLOSURE, SAM SMITH, JESSE WARE and MARY J. BLIGE on her most recent release, but now he's decided to give it a go solo.
He will release the first track 'Give It Up' to his upcoming EP 'The Making of Me' which will be released on March 9th with METHOD MUSIC. HOWARD LAWRENCE (one half of Disclosure) was on the production for this piece, which you can really feel with a lighter use of his infectious garage pop- a concoction of jerky beats and sparkling synths to accompany Jimmy's smooth falsetto vocals.
The success in this track just proves that Napes is more than just a wordsmith and we're thrilled that he's decided to come forth to the limelight and exhibit his talents. 'Give It Up' expresses how consumed by love he is in that he is willing to give it all up, anything to keep her.
His winning list of songs he has written all draw upon his experiences (many about his wife) so it seems almost inevitable that he would eventually have a collection which he found too personal to share, a collection which he would want to express himself, with production help from friends Howard and M.J COLE.
