Live Review: JETS ‘U-N-I’ Ft. Jamie Lidell

JETS’ track ‘U-N-I’ was a standout steamy, bedroom eyes number taken from their four-track EP The Chants earlier in the year, but hasn’t received too much attention round these parts yet. So we’re gonna give it some.

'U-N-I' has been out for a while and epitomises the seductive, drum-patterned journey of the duo’s EP as a whole. Sounding a fair bit like Sydney’s own Collarbones, JETS’ (aka Jimmy Edgar and Travis Stewart) sound is downtempo, sensual R&B with grooves that gyrate around a sequence of warped chords and thick synths.

The track is hypnotic and melodic, and gets a helping hand from the soulful vocals of Jamie Lidell (who comes from the very un-soulful East Anglian village of Huntington, in Cambridgeshire, England).

The pair have been focusing on their solo projects, but reunite on ‘U-N-I’. They say that the top three things required for successful collaborations is ‘trust, communication and respect’, which is a lovely wholesome message for the kids to take home.
