Boundary pushing producer JAYDA G dropped a new rhythmically charged dance banger in ‘Sestra’s Cry’. First signed to Australian label Butter, Jayda G now splits her time between Vancouver and Berlin, producing tracks and playing at local underground clubs. Despite having a hectic schedule, Jayda G is showing now signs of slowing, having also launched her own label with DJ FETT BURGER in 2015, called Freakout Cult. Jayda’s sound is very global sounding and is highly influenced by the rich and diverse Canadian club culture. Jayda G combines elements of gospel, with the hypnotic rhythm of an infectious dance track.
Jayda G opens the song with a mesmerising, rich vocal hook. The layered choir of voices could even be mistaken for something you'd here at Sunday service but we're vibing it. The track develops as the thumping bassline that comes in really propels the track with a driving force. 'Sestra's Cry' is simple, in terms of the amount of elements that Jayda G utilises, but they're all incredibly polished. The filtering and light and shade really works, 'Sestra's Cry' starts in techno style with a 4/4 rhythm and central vocal theme, but the track builds with intense light and shade, and her clever filtering and reverb adds a richness of texture across the tune.
If this is what going to church sounds like, we'd be happy for Jayda G to take us there again! Taken from a 42-track compilation titled Physically Sick Full Strength Protest Compilation from DISCWOMAN and ALLERGY SEASON, getting your own copy of this track comes with a hint of good conscience as all proceeds are donated to charities like the ACLU in the US. To help them in their efforts of "raising money to selected charities who oppose the hateful policies of the incoming US administration," get your own copy here.
