Toronto-via-Melbourne artist Hoodlem delivers another taste of her forthcoming EP with the futuristic RnB tinged new single, Teenager.
Currently based in Toronto, Australian singer songwriter/producer, HOODLEM, has just released the title track from her forthcoming EP due out this year. Following on from ‘Funny Farm,’ 'Teenager' is a love song infused with a soft blend of longing, desire and adolescent infatuation. ‘I wanna know all about you / Lay your teenage love on me,’ Hoodlem sings.
Her voice glides over a careful blend of experimental soul and future R&B, weaving smoothly through cadences over soulful beats. All the parts here – from the claps, to the bassline, to the delicate synths – work in unison. Co-producers GXNXVS and YEO create a delicate palette that allows Hoodlem's voice to shine through.
'Teenager' is another huge step forward for Hoodlem, who continues to diversify and develop with each and every release. Speaking of her forthcoming EP, she said, "This EP is about falling in love with someone and all the feelings and challenges that come with that. The coming undone and the expression and the overwhelming sense of love and obsession and idolization and infatuation-the loss of normality and sense."
