Live Review: LISTEN: HEALTH 'Tears'

'Tears' is HEALTH's contribution to the Max Payne 3 soundtrack, and it contains a massive sound reserved for containing entire worlds.

HEALTH, a L.A. noise-rock quartet, have certainly aged well over time, and 'Tears' is the best example of this. The song is expansive, a wall of distortion that threatens to absorb you at any second. Listening to the pounding rhythm of the song, you'll feel like you're being taken through a walk of the world created by 'Tears'. You'll wonder where you're going to end up, but not enough so as to be distracted from the beautiful soundscapes unfolding around you. Despite this, there isn't as much going on in the song as you might be inclined to think from its huge sound. It's a deceptively simple masterpiece.
