If FICKLE FRIENDS’ ‘Brooklyn’ was a summer dream then GOTSOME’s remix is the hot night that follows. GotSome, UK producer and DJ extraordinaires Adam Gorksy and Alex Holmes have lent their helping hand, turning a boogie worthy track into something made straight for the dance floor.
Fickle Friends don’t want you to stop dancing and have released a bouncy remix by GotSome. With droning warped vocals throughout, the light melancholy touch of the original is not lost – only repurposed for party reasons. Natti Shiner’s hook of “You’re a Brooklyn bay, you know how to love” is repeated over a quick and fun techno pop beat, proving that their original pop hook is absolute gold. While a little less bass heavy than to be expected of GotSome, it’s a testament to their craft in that he knows exactly how to translate an indie pop song to the dance floor.
GotSome’s remix is yet another in a long line of high quality bangers which have been given the golden touch, GotSome previously remixing Roisin Murphy, Craig David and the fabled Kanye song ‘Fade’ to great acclaim. GotSome’s skills don’t end at their remixes, having recently collaborated with the ‘Godfather of Grime’ to produce ‘Vibe Out’. GotSome’s one of the UK’s bass duos to follow, whether its their dynamic sets or the unstoppable bass-heavy creations tweaked in their Bristol studio – it’s pretty obvious GotSome are a force to be reckoned with.
