In honour of this week's show, ALTA have taken care of the 6th incarnation of the Good Manners mix.
Melbournites have already been treated to three Monthly parties from Good Manners, and this Thursday Boney will be hosting the fourth. The bill features heaps of our favourites (think, Nutrition, Planete, Jack Grace), but headlining the night will be the always formidable ALTA.
The Melbourne duo of Hannah Lesser and Julius Dowson have been tearing up stages and releases alike with their "unpredictable, refreshing and so-damn-fun sounds" and in honour of this week's show, they've taken care of the sixth incarnation of the Good Manners mix.
Now you may be expecting a mix that mirrors the hip-hop influenced tribal rhythmic pop they create, but you'd be kind of wrong. Instead the duo have chosen delved deep into the world of "Gqom". We'll let Dowson explain...

"A mate introduced me to some of the recent dance tracks coming out of South Africa and stumbled across this new style coming out of Durban which goes by the name of “Gqom”. It’s this dark house music with twisted broken beats and it’s fucking killer.
Rhythms are heaps repetitive and they build the tracks by slowly adding elements like shouts and drums and other shit it’s mental. Sometimes they add these droney string synths that just sit there unchanging creating these dark mesmerising club tracks. A bunch of Durban boyz are making it (half of the groups are called *Something* Boyz) and it’s gaining traction over in the UK according to the webs.
Typically tracks are self released for free dl on this SA website called Kasimp3 or megaupload-type websites called shit like datafilehost. I’ve spent some nights snoopin around their facebooks like a weirdo collecting whatever tracks I can find and real stoked to be able to do this mix for ya – getting ready for Good Manners Monthly. Hope you enjoy cheers!"
