Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu today returns to share 'Missing Molars', a five-track deluxe to his album, 'Smiling With No Teeth'
ARIA-nominated, Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu today returns to share 'Missing Molars', a five-track deluxe accompaniment to his globally acclaimed debut album, 'Smiling With No Teeth'. Recorded in the studio sessions for the album, the additional tracks continues its sonic ethos outside of its strict conceptual narrative. Sentimentally however the tracks perfectly continue the ethos of the record, where he so naturally discusses mental health, resilience and batting issues of race in contemporary society.
Lead single to the project, the 'Missing Molars' collection is opened with 'The Fall' with complimenting epic visuals. The track features a techno inspired percussion section combining perfectly with abrasive synths and Owusu's trademark falsetto. It presents a hardcore and pulsating energy demanding attention and energy. It also features the previously released 'Same Thing', which flows with addictive bass runs, deep production and experimental lead synths, it combines everything we love about a Genesis Owusu release in a new form.
'The Fall's visual accompaniment was directed by directing duo VERSUS (Jason Sukadana and Tanya Babic). It was filmed at Phoenix Central Park in Sydney/Eora. The buildings beautiful architecture plays the perfect backdrop to Owusu's eclectic performance, reflecting the tracks banging energy.
Genesis Owusu said on the release of the deluxe: "Missing Molars is an extension of Smiling With No Teeth. A small collection of tracks from the SWNT sessions that take the already established world-building groundwork of the album, and expand that universe into new and unexplored places. These are all tracks that I felt were special in their own right and needed to be shared. This is music without boundary."
