No strangers to an epic party, Brisbane’s FEELSCLUB have upped their game with new remix release SUB.ALT.GEN 01, which sees a bunch of their original tracks twizzled around by some of the band’s favourite producers. Featuring the sonic stylings of creatives including DJ Borderforce, Christian Patey, MKA, Inimata, Bcharre and Ether1.618, SUB.ALT.GEN 01 is nothing short of a heart-rate-boosting-blessing during these uncertain times. Oh, and did we mention that the release includes an original FeelsClub track that didn’t appear on their first EP? Well yeah, it has that too. It’s called ‘Lies’ and it’s a bop and a half jam packed with trademark feels. A release full of remixes is a stellar way for FeelsClub to keep their music ball rolling, as it delivers both the newness fans (and the band) crave but also a comforting familiarity. Electric chicken soup for the ear holes.
Listening through the release from top to tail, it’s lovely to hear how each individual producer has interpreted FeelsClub’s supercharged sound. A notable feature of the release is the three interpretations of FeelsClub’s track ‘So Done’, which has been remixed by DJ Borderforce, Bcharre and Ether1.618 respectively. Each version of the song carries totally unique tones, with Borderforce’s mix delivering very untz-y techno/house vibes whilst Bcharre and Ether1.618 versions being influenced by far more by trance (lengthier oscillations to be discovered on both versions, however totally different approaches to drums, rendering all three tracks incomparable). Other remixes of ‘After The Fall’, ‘Magic’ and ‘Lies’ can also be found on the release, each tune a genre-crunching snack permeated by FeelsClub’s overarching trash-pop presence, turning it into a lounge room dance party begging to happen.

For Brisbane-based fans in particular, SUB.ALT.GEN 01's seven tracks come served with a pang of longing for all that is currently lost. We’re talking a back room rave somewhere in the pits of Fortitude Valley here, a hallowed watering ground where FeelsClub first found their feet. Maybe this is truly what it means to be a part of FeelsClub’s Feels Club, and on a multitude of physical, emotional and economic levels, it is safe to say that we are all FEELING IT right now.
