Live Review: Entheo 'Half Moon' Ft. Maia

Sydney producer Entheo has teamed up with Brisbane rising star Maia for, 'Half Moon', a track lifted from his new release 'Crush'.

Whilst we don't know much at all about Sydney producer ENTHEO, we can hazard a guess things won't remain that way for very long.

After about a year of uploading original material, he has just dropped a 13 track collection, CRUSH, which will undoubtedly see him gain more than a few new fans - especially with the inclusion of standout track, Half Moon featuring Brisbane rising star MAIA.

Creating intricate, hazy soundscapes, ENTHEO's production is not something easily overlooked. His meticulous attention to detail sees hidden surprises in his tracks, from arpeggiating synths to scattered glitches or booming basslines. The inclusion of MAIA on not one, but two of the tracks on CRUSH is probably his best move though, as her honeyed vocals breath new life into the songs.

Half Moon is a delicate, beautiful tune that starts off with soft, echoing keys over crackling feedback. The arpeggiating starts before the bass kicks in, accompanied by finger clicks and MAIA's to-die-for voice. Effortless, chilled but immediately captivating, these two are a match made in heaven; her R&B style injecting emotion into the meandering soundscape, filling in the sparsity with her inviting and sultry lyrics.

Giving new meaning to the "less is more" approach, all of the tracks on CRUSH clock in at 3 and a half minutes or under, leaving you begging for more. Clever, when he's made each track blend into the next.

There is no word on any future releases from either artist, both of whom prefer the mysterious side of things. Fingers crossed this will change, and soon. You can purchase CRUSH on ENTHEO's SoundCloud, and immerse yourself in MAIA on her's until then.
