Live Review: LISTEN: Duke Dumont 'Need U 100%' (Disclosure & Sam Smith Cover)

DISCLOSURE take Duke Dumont's '100%' and spin it into their own mix of warbling samples, deep vibes and exquisite vocals.

Disclosure

The original has a lot to be said about its funky beats and sassy vocals, however deep house legends DISCLOSURE take this tune and spin it into their own mix of warbling samples, deep vibes and exquisite vocals.

Drum and Bass feature as the perfect accompaniment to make this track DISCLOSURE’s own as the upbeat techno sounds tickle your insides. The angelic vocals of Sam Smith who lent his throaty chords to ‘Latch’ from DISCLOSURE’s new album, Settle replace the feisty lyrics of the original and are all the better for it.

The vocals are a stand out but the cyclonic samples are a close second. As soon as you think you have heard it all, something new drops in. It is like a deep house pastiche of sound that you can’t help but wonder if DISCLOSURE is turning this cover into a beautiful collage of music just for you. This track stands out as one for deep house aficionados, but the pure beauty in it is that the cover will be sure to capture the attention of all music fans out there.

It is seamless, quirky and layered- much like DISCLOSURE’s new album. The original of DUKE DUMONT’s ‘Need U 100%’ rings like an early 90s dance anthem while DISCLOSURE make the cover their own with cheeky Drum and Bass and deep beats- either way you will find yourself dancing around in your knickers, spilling orange juice all over yourself out of pure techno joy. Or maybe you won’t, maybe that’s just me…
