It's a beautiful day for pop, because Queensland's DOOLIE returns today with her second single out via her new fam at etcetc, 'Attention'. The psychedelic/pop/RnB fusion features Aussie pop-rap duo China Roses and was produced by Melbourne's GXNXVS.
'Attention' deals with that frustrating feeling you get when all you want is your crush to notice you and give you some attention. It's about the lows of chasing someone and the feelings that arise through this. “As playful as this song is, it’s so true. I wanted every line in this song to be relatable; it’s all about that person you're trying to reach and just can’t quite catch,” says DOOLIE.
Jes from China Roses' vocal perfectly juxtaposes DOOLIE's, with her saccharine-sweet sheen creating a conversational vibe between her vocal and DOOLIE's smooth, sultry vocal. “Having China Roses feature feels like that obsessive back and forth my girlfriends and I would have about someone we liked. I also really love how Jes’ flow changes up the rhythm of the song and helps lift it back up before dropping into the last chorus."
'Attention' melds every good feature of a pop track together: a captivatingly different instrumental, a feature that sees both artists' sounds working together to create common ground and it's just a damn good pop track. Try to get this one out of your head, I dare you.
