Cheney Ray, otherwise known as CRAY only has about 5,000 SoundCloud followers, but is one of those odd cases where each of her tracks is well over 50,000 plays - some even 100,000. Although latest single 'Indigo' is still yet to reach that goal, it undoubtedly will thanks to it's future trap leanings and spaced out synth swells.
Never straying too far from the minimal side of things, or as minimal as trap can be, CRAY has really outdone herself with this latest track. 'Indigo' is a swelling, bubbling, bass-y jam, with enough added effects to give it that extra future vibe.
Straying from her previous filthy trap bangers, this track a little more refined and shows a bit of extra diversity in her style. The stuttered synths and trap beats mixed with eerie, echoing breakdowns and shuffled, sweeping beats break up the genres to create something entirely her own.
'Indigo' comes after dropping the similarly genre-blending 'Fortune' and '1Up', but both tracks are significantly heavier than this latest release. Aptly tagged as #Wayvee, this could well signify a bit more depth in CRAY's sound.
'Indigo' is available for free download now over at her SoundCloud.
