Live Review: LISTEN: Collarbones 'Missing'

Collarbones' new single 'Missing' captures the feeling pretty damn well. Missing someone right now? Have a listen, it's like having company.

The intro to COLLARBONES' track 'Missing' is trippy as. I feel like I just came out of a trance. That shit is seriously immersive, I forgot to even listen to the lyrics the first time I heard it because I was just so entranced by the music.

The lyrics might be not be the first thing you notice, but they're pretty swell nonetheless. It's all about missing someone (big surprise, I know) but they're not full of the usual stereotypical lines; they're simple but heartfelt, and you really get that sense of longing and loss, a sense that's underscored by the melancholic instrumentals.

It's not a heavy song, the sound is a fairly minimalist but all the more effective for it, complex without being too busy or overcrowded. It's probably not the kind of thing you'd want to dance to, but it's meant to capture an emotion, and it does that superbly.

Words by Desiree Conceicao.
