Live Review: LISTEN: Chvrches 'Lies' (Tourist Remix)

Strip Chvrches 'Lies' of its hardball synth, enter the chill-out treatment of mixmaster Tourist and journey into a weightless ambience | Purple Sneakers

A recipe for weary bones and tired eyes, for a lush, transformative journey into a weightless ambience... Take the original thick and syrupy electro-pop of CHVRCHES powerful 'Lies', strip it of the hardball synth and gritty drum and bass and enter the chill-out treatment of London-based mixmaster TOURIST.

What remains is a minimal organ chord progression that allows the distinctive vocals of lead singer Lauren Mayberry to shine alone. And don't those pipes sparkle splendidly!

A gradual build-up of gentle percussive beats, looped vocals that float behind a layered soundscape, and a crystal-clear stratospheric sojourn 4 minutes in are part of the epic journey of TOURIST to the chilly climes of Scotland.

Ahead of the Glaswegian band's tour of our sunny shores (inclusive of headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and an appearance at Laneway Festival), this blissful remix will get us in the mood... for gloom or gin or both.
