Live Review: Cannons 'Body Talk'

LA trio Cannons mark their return to the scene with their new track, 'Body Talk'.

Los Angeles's CANNONS have only been releasing music since August last year, but don't let their limited experience fool you. These guys are capable of very accomplished dance tracks, with their latest release 'Body Talk' further cementing this reputation.

Airy female vocals breathe across faint guitar plucking, light percussion and just enough bass to keep things fun in 'Body Talk'. They've got the atmospheric synths down too, with the track swelling steadily as it works it's way along.

Although the vocals are quite soft, they are still quite captivating and hold a lot of emotional depth with the lyrics. This is helped by the infectious chorus, pounding beat and guitar chords reminiscent of RATATAT. The groove sets in and is hard to fight, as the futuristic synth-pop stylings come into the fray towards the end.

'Body Talk' is playful, a little sensual and borderline hypnotising. It's also interesting to hear the progression of Cannons from their previous work of last year. Clearly growing in themselves and as a group, this is an exciting indicator of what we still haven't heard from the LA trio, and has us extremely excited of what is still to come!
