The well-seasoned duo behind BROTHER IN ARMS haven’t exactly had a quiet run so far. They’ve done official remixes for the likes of ERIC SHARP, ANNA LUNOE and DJ EQUAL, plus 2014 saw them receive exposure across the USA and the world.
I think in a world where the internet is constantly saturated and inundated with new content every second, it’s hard to create a filter for yourself. However it does get easier to determine what’s good. BROTHER IN ARMS’ latest track ‘Pound Cake’ is just that. It’s house, but it’s also techno. There’s elements in there that remind me of DISCLOSURE, most notably being the fade out of the accompaniment and only holding a soft synth with an echoe-y, DRAKE sampled, male vocal line speaking over the top.
There’s suspense, wit and a refreshing number of careful choices that have been put forth to this track. A pulsing synth skates effortlessly over the carefree female vocals and comfortably, this has all been framed by a neat percussion line that has been tacked on carefully.
BROTHER IN ARMS are careful with their production but their delivery is complicated and evokes a sense of true artistry.
