New Zealand indie pop super-kid BENEE has helped celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Gotye's global hit, 'Somebody That I Used To Know' by covering it exclusively for Amazon Music. The track was originally released on July the 5th 2011 before going 14x platinum and dominating charts around the world. The cover is BENEE's first official solo release since her wonderful 2020 debut album, 'Hey U X' took over the globe.

The cover features all the qualities we've come to know and love from a BENEE original. Sunny guitars, glowing synths and  BENEE's personality fuelled delivery all sit perfectly above the looped drum pattern and bassline.  Fuelled by one off-kilter bop after another, her cover sounds like the perfect lost Gen X classic made for Gen Z.

"I resonate so strongly with the lyrics in this song,” says BENEE. “I wish that I had written it and was so excited by the opportunity to record it for Amazon Music." You can find BENEE's Amazon Original cover of 'Somebody That I Used To Know' on Amazon Music’s Bedroom Pop Playlist, featuring hand-picked D.I.Y. gems to get you lo-fi dreaming.
