Memoreck's '2am' remix features smooth synths and a late night vibe, taking the joy of the original track and reworking it into an after party chiller.
ALICE IVY's dance floor filler 'Be Friends' just got a blissed-out makeover from Canadian producer, MEMORECKS. The '2am' remix features smooth synths and a late night vibe, taking the joyful spirit of the original track and reworking it into an after party chiller.
Memorecks has stripped back much of the retro '70s percussion and guitar that jangled behind 'Be Friends', in favour of sticky bass and layered vocals. The distinctive lyrics and vocals still hold the track together, but with a couple of touches he has managed to create a completely contemporary take on Alice Ivy's iconic sound.
This collaboration was a dream come true for the Melbourne-based producer, who is a long time fan of Memorecks' work. “I met and hung out in Memorecks’ studio earlier this year on a North American, Canadian tour," Alice Ivy explains. "After a few days, it clicked that I used to play his beats all the time in my first cafe job that I worked but in Australia. Memorecks' work is absolutely incredible and so influential to sample based beat making, it was a complete honour to have him remix my single.”

This relaxed remix is as much a testament to the impressive versatility of Alice Ivy's production as Memorecks' slick production. 'Be Friends' was calling out for a rework, and this unexpected pairing makes a stellar team.
