Melbourne might be known for its saturation in talented house producers, but ALICE IVY is floating along her own stream producing electro-soul music with a very unique vibe. She’s teamed up with hip-hop collective RaRa, and Georgia Van Etten on her latest track ‘Almost Here’.
This track opens like an old school piece of romantic jazz, it then delves into a rap infused, horn driven piece of hip hop, before jumping back to the original loop, connecting the electro-soul dots. This is Alice Ivy’s second collaboration with Georgia Van Etten, whose bluesey voice is the perfect accompaniment to the style Alice Ivy has been crafting for the last 18 months.
‘Almost Here’ is released off the back of Alice Ivy’s (the girl formally known as Annika Schmarse) rave success taking over America. For Australia, and in particular Melbourne, soul is something we love, but don’t breathe like Americans do, so to have taken the states by storm is a massive feather in Alice Ivy’s cap.
