After teasing out three tracks of sultry ‘60s soul over the last year, Texan troubadour Leon Bridges finally has a full album to his name.

Coming Home evokes that beautiful, lazy Sunday morning feeling, enamelled with the warm, mellow timbres of R&B legends Al Green, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye. It’s a hugely stylish effort, filled with purity, passion and polish. But though undoubtedly pleasing, the album at times threatens to ebb into the background. For a debut, it’s remarkably consistent, but so much so, it occasionally translates into tedium.
