Album Review: Left. - Sirens

4 February 2015 | 1:11 pm | Cam Findlay

"A brave bridging between indie rock and jazz-infused hip hop"

Taking cues from other great Sydney acts like PVT, Seekae and Ghoul, Left. artfully tread the line between catchy organic indie composition and deft electronic layering.

Lying at its heart is guitarist Jono Graham’s balance between repetitive, bracing guitar lines (think Foals) and his apparently rapid mastery of electronic production, the clicky beats floating along at much the same tempo. Sarah Corry’s voice is effortlessly elegant and nuanced, the subtle layering of vocal tracks stunning in parts. A brave bridging between indie rock and jazz-infused hip hop, it’s the careful use of balance and timing that makes this a winner.
