Album Review: Kronis Quartet - A Thousand Thoughts

The insanely gifted Kronos Quartet celebrate their 40th anniversary with this collection of live takes. The idea is to demonstrate their range, and with this selective cull from a vast library of performances from the past 25 years delivered across various continents, their versatility is seemingly limitless as they incorporate Celtic, Arabian, Latin and Oriental sounds.  The big danger inherent in this kind of “world music” project is the risk of looking like a tourist, but the quartet's skill and undiminished inner fire give a vivid sense of widescreen adventure.
