More Kilter Kilter

Amid flashes of urgent electro beats and chill tropical vibes, Sydney producer Ned East offers something to appeal to most listeners on Shades.

Mirrored by closer Melt, opener They Say is an accessible-but-thoughtful club track in the vein of Flume, comprising shadowy, chipmunk vocals. Conversely, When You Walked In evokes hints of Aqua; its bubblegum, jungle-pop stylings littered with arcade-like chimes. Various Aussie artists incorporate fresh new elements: Citizen Kay induces a summery, hip-hop flavour, while Ngaiire brings a soulful, slow-build into a rhythmic dance number. Kilter plays at Shebeen Bandroom on 12 Jul.
